Kimber pro carry vs ultra carry - Thowe. I own a Kimber Pro Carry II 9mm Stainless steel and would never consider buying any other brand to replace this gun. Never had a problem with this pistol, very accurate and to me a excellent carry gun. For the price I paid for Kimber quality, a Wilson or Bare would be much more to buy. IMOP.

 
I have been looking at buying either a Colt Defender or the Kimber Pro Carry II. I have never owned a Kimber, but have come to the conclusion that the Kimbers are fine firearms per Kimber owners I have talked with. The primary thing I think was they reduced the amount of the carry melt treatment a little. The basic difference between Series II and pre-series II (like yours) is the Series II guns have a Swartz firing pin safety.This coming from a guy that would shoot nothing but a 1911 for years, that is not an opinion, it is fact. Comparing a G30 to a Kimber Carry is like comparing a horse and wagon to a fancy chrome and blinged out pick up truck. One is utilitarian, functional and simple, the other is over the top, expensive, and at times temperamental.You even said it at the end of the review… Function vs form. That Glock will run longer and better than the Kimber. No need to change the recoil spring after 800 rounds like Kimber recommends for its pistol.
