The M&P is a completely different design that is superior in every way to the SD. I have both, and yes the M&P is a more refined pistol as far as the trigger goes, the trigger on the SD aint bad either.The SD9 rear sight has a set screw that the SD9VE sight does not. The front sights are similar, but the SD9 has a front night sight, versus just a white dot on the SD9VE. The SD9VE also has a different, and better, trigger than the SD9. The SD9VE was an attempt of Smith Wesson to attempt to copy a Glock pistol. Actually Glock sued Smith Wesson over the Sigma which copied the Glock very closely.
